Easy to use and reliable VPN

Pros: I've been using NordVPN for a while now, and honestly, the best part is that I rarely have to think about it. I mostly use when travelling and connecting to secure sites back home. The connection is fast enough that I don't notice any buffering, and the "Threat Protection" is a nice little bonus because it actually stops those annoying pop-up ads while I'm browsing. Cons: The app can feel a bit crowded with extra features I don't really use, and every now and then, I have to switch servers because a banking site or Gmail gets suspicious of the VPN.

My honest opinion about using NordVPN

Pros: First, in my country, there are some websites we normally use to access to gather information like school related lessons on the internet to teach my students which in case I require a vpn service in order to access some of the websites that are blocked. Nordvpn gives me the option to freely access the internet without any restrictions whatsoever. The connection speed is blazingly fast even if the vpn server is located thousand of miles away from my location. Features like kill swtich are useful for me as to prevent me from using VPN service to some of the software that don't require it. I also like the deals of Nordvpn, especially if you considering for buying long-term, you should buy it as it is more worth it than buying short terms like months which you will likely pay more most of the times. Cons: Sometimes, there are some issues that can surface if I am trying to connect to the server, like connection timeout in the midst of connecting. Some servers require more time than others to be able to connected. I also find the performance to be slow for the first time of opening it. Navigating through the app is okay at best.

Good solution for online safety

NordVPN added value to my business. I was able to access services when abroad that are otherwise geo-locked. This is my main use, but its always nice to have an extra layer of security when browsing the internet and downloading unverified files. Pros: NordVPN offers a wide choice of servers in a wide choice of countries to access. This adds an element of anonymity to browsing the internet. The download and upload speed is also pretty decent, which was a dealbreaker in other VPN solutions. Cons: Some of the IPs I was assigned sometimes are blocked from certain servers due to other people's activities in the past. This is the only con I encountered. Some servers are abused and overused.

5 years of use and practivally no problems

I´ve been using NordVPN for more than 5 years now and I would highly recommend it. I use it to reach home via the internet and keep my browsing secure and private Pros: The general ease of use and security. Being someone who live abroad, being able to use a relaible VPN to connect to certain thinga back home makes all the difference. Plus, the added security is always a good thing. Cons: The app can misbehave at times on older computers; this includes getting locked in loops and lagging. However, these instances are few and far between.

NordVPN - always stay safe

NordVPN is a great VPN app, the best I used until now. Is easy to use and setup with a good price. It has many useful features and a good connection for almost all countries. Pros: The most I like the browsers extension, it let me browse with the VPN without installing the app on the PC, is useful as I use multiple devices. Another useful feature that I really like is the Darkweb monitor, it informs me whenever my credentials appears on the list from the Darkweb so I can change them. Cons: Sometimes the extension takes some time to connect.

Great product and service

We have been using about 7 months and it works perfectly. We are visiting other countries and sometimes you need to be able to be in your home country for banking and other stuff. Works great . We even bought a dedicated IP address to some other connections. I will continue to use this in the future.

Made me feel safer during travel and remote work

Pros: If I connect to airport or cafe networks, NordVPN automatically secures the connection and encrypts the traffic. The server switching feature also turned out to be reliable, when using it to access region restricted sites when traveling. Cons: Sometimes my laptop woke from sleep before auto connect pushed through. In a few instances I had to resync manually which reduced my flow and had me double checking.

NordVPN rocks!

I've rarely had a tech issue and when i do it is addressed immediately. Pros: It is easy to use. I have the whole family on it, many of which are not tech people and they find it easy to use as well. Since I have started using it, I have way fewer security incidents with malware and a lot less spam! Cons: Occasionally, when traveling, I have to restart my system to get it working on public wifi. This is not purely a NordVPN issue though, most VPN software would experience similar issues with browser based authentication for public systems.

Great VPN that is easy to plug and play.

I have had a very good experience so far. It has been easy to set up, the price was good, and it has the functions that I use. It solves my problem well and isn't complicated! Pros: I like how the system is so straight forward and easy to use. All I need to do is launch the product and then hit the connect button. I don't need anything complicated, just straight forward. Cons: There's not much to dislike, probably one of the things is that it logs me out frequently. So I need to keep logging in more frequently than I would like.

I've never had a connection issue or anything. It stays automatically connected and if it somehow gets disconnected it hooks right back up. I assume it does that, becuse i have never been disconnected. It has a thing telling how long you've stayed connected, I never really pay attention to that but usually saids a month or more. Has an Option for mesh netting where you can link other devices too. Had another app, but it went out of service and atuo linked me to this one.

Just updating my previous rating of 3 stars back to 5 as I've found the previous issue I had had nothing to do with the app nor with Nord's VPN service at all (and I managed to fix it separately). Not sure if their previous reply offering help remains after the review update, so I'd confirm they also offered tech support (which I didn't use because I mistakenly believed the issue to be a standard limitation of their service, but it wasn't). So, again, great service and everything works fine.

NordVPN on Android and Mac

Both of the NordVPN apps that I use work flawlessly, and I've never had any issues with using either of them. It's nice being able to use something "that just works" without needing to tinker with any settings. Pros: I use the Android and MacOS apps on my devices, which work perfectly. Cons: I don't really have anything negative to say about NordVPN. My experience over the past several years has been great.

Honest review

I can’t say that NordVPN has saved my identity. The ramifications of me getting this security is unknown to me. What I can say is this, I’ve not had any fraudulent charges since I got this service. And when I browse the internet, I feel secure that I’m protected. That alone was worth the service.

Safe surfing in a waiting net

Pros: Intrusive ads, phishing sites, and sketchy downloads could not even get in my radar since they were blocked by NordVPN automatically, even on servers that were not activated in VPN mode, making my online life secure and free of clutter. Cons: Occasionally the Windows client would show me marketing gags about other Nord services, which got in the way of my work a bit.

Supports secure remote access to internal systems

Pros: I depend on NordVPN every day to stay online while doing my job outside, in venues such as cafes and airports. It guarantees the safety of my online actions and please me when I need to use private resources. Cons: Sometimes it was not possible for me to choose only certain apps to go around the VPN on my Mac device.

Works the way it's supposed to

Works the way it's supposed to! I had a bad Experience with Express VPN which for some reason Netflix was impossible to watch, so I switched to Nord VPN and it's pretty fast and doesn't get detected very often by my apps.

I used NordVPN for years I was able to find out that information of mine had gotten onto the dark web. What does this mean that’s easy or VPN explains almost everything which is why I like it. Simple, straightforward, excellent speed👍

Game changer

Choosing NordVPN a few years ago was probably one of the better choices i have made. I also use Nord pass and Nord locker, this helps me a lot with password keeping and files i want to keep on the cloud just as a precaution. On holiday The VPN is a must have tool, the reliability is brilliant.

Can’t get a connection

Overall, it’s been working well over the past two months. About two-thirds of the time, it connects smoothly with fast speeds. However, for the remaining one-third of the time, it fails to connect no matter how many times I try. Changing servers doesn't help either. Whenever this happens, the connection page shows 'Unable to connect, Get Help.' When I click it, it says I'm on the 'User Network,' but since the VPN isn't connected, I can't actually open that page. It's a total Catch-22. As a result, it hasn't been working properly for the past 4 days.

I use the app on my firestick

I use the app on my iOS devices, PC, and Firestick, and I’m generally happy with the experience on the other platforms. However, the Firestick version needs significant improvement. The Firestick app is very basic and lacks some important functionality. You can’t set it to auto-connect when the device is turned on, it doesn’t save my last settings, and requires me to manually search for a specific city every time I log in. The settings menu also offers very limited options. For a better user experience, I would recommend adding automatic connection, the ability to save the last-used location and settings, and more customization options. These improvements would make the Firestick app much more convenient and user-friendly.

Good but not great

For the most part it's fine. There are times during the day when it says unsecured but I can't figure out why it happens pretty much daily. It's frustrating that rarely do I have 24 hours secured coverage. I change protocol as was advised and get help to check for fixes but nothing makes it better. Customer service is not always very helpful since they can't see in real time since can't talk to a person for help. Will consider switching once my contract is done.

Straight forward VPN for a reasonable cost

Overall I recommend it. Cheap. Easy to use. Comes with validation evidence that it’ll do what it’s supposed to do. Can’t fault it other than speed deteriorating if connected to one server for long periods (days). Pros: The ease at which it allows you to connect to a VPN to secure your connection is excellent. The cost is great, but it did take a long time to find the voucher code/subscription combo that gave the best (lowest) monthly cost. Once sorted though, there were no billing issues and the product just works out of the box. The interface is easy to use; just click to connect. I’ve never had to contact customer support, which is a positive as it confirms it’s intuitive design. Cons: The speed deterioration of connections and VPN blocking by some sites/tools can become a frustration. You have to be constantly mindful that your using VPN, and therefore if an app or website responds unexpectedly, you have ti disconnect and do your work, then reconnect. The new timed paused feature makes this easier.

Nord VPN is decent, with room to improve

I switched from Express VPN to Nord about 6 months ago, when Express was acquired by a shady management firm. Nord was top-rated by tech sites I trust, so I gave them a try. The app is ok, but not perfect. It has a nasty habit of showing you as “connected” when it is still working to establish or re-establish connection; this is frustrating: Express VPN was always my “canary in the coal mine,” alerting me to network issues as soon as connectivity began to degrade. It is also vexatious that Nord shows “connected” while it is still negotiating the assignment of an IP address; sometimes I’ll later return to the app and discover that this process had stalled, and that troubleshooting of the network connection or the app is needed. Throughput is generally satisfactory; I don’t require blistering speeds for my purposes, and Nord almost never slows me down. Stability is excellent: the app has never crashed on me. Generally a good app, and I am essentially happy with it.

Reliable. The main thing I'm looking for in a VPN. If settings are right, it will always run and cut off connection if not on - allowing me the opportunity to close out whatever downloads I might have running. I would love more time length options for pausing, and a timer to see how long is left. 5 mins is short, and 30 too long for quick things like app updates that require Google login and location access. Setting it to turn on on a schedule, or by common location/Wi-Fi (work) would be sweeet.

NordVPN Review : Protection, Privacy and Streaming

Overall, the experience with NordVPN has been good, mainly used for streaming and protection, it gets the job done. Pros: One of the most important features a vpn should have is obviously fast speed, and NordVPN has that, which makes thinks like streaming for example really enjoyable. The software is not expensive, and having the possibility to do plans is nice. Friendly UI, nothing complicated. Cons: Although getting a yearly plan or similar is very beneficial, renewal pricing is significantly higher. There is a limit of concurrent devices that can use it.

So despite all the recent updates after my complaint about not being able to play videos on some websites because Nordvpn keeps blocking them. I found out the phishing scam option was on and that was the reason a lot of links don't open including application forms that legal documents and everything good. i turned it off and all the sites can play videos and i can do other things. the idea is good but it doesn't know the difference between fake sites with links and genuine sites it blocks all

There is a reason they are number one. There are things I didn't like, such as, instead of reminding me I needed to renew, the VPN just shut off without warning. A paid service in another country was permanently blocked. You can't choose a favorite city to connect to when the program restarts or loses a server. The server that Nord chooses is absolutely the worst for permissions on sites. If I fail to check to be sure I'm not on that server, I can be barred from other subscriptions.

Tried several, Nord was fastest Surfshark has some features I would like to have with Nord ...Cleanweb ad and tracker blocker, alias email/identity and bypasser. Nord's split tunneling lets you add apps but you can't set up individual websites like with Surfshark bypasser. I would recommend Surf over Nord if you get good speed with them. edit.. Unfortunately, the PC version frequently loses connection and has issues. If you're only needing it for your phone, 👍 but for me... still testing.

Great VPN option from a well-known brand

Overall, this is a great option from a well-known and trusted brand. Recommended. Pros: Easy to use with a simple and clean UI. No significant slowdown when using the VPN which is a huge bonus, and most VPN locations are available most of the time. Cons: No real negatives from my perspective, but the price is fairly standard as far as I know. It's pretty much the same price as competitors so doesn't stand out here.

For me it's by far the best VPN

I've been using NordVPN for about 2 years and I'm very satisfied, it's a very powerful VPN. I've tried other VPNs but they didn't perform as well. NordVPN is undoubtedly the best VPN to use to stay protected. I recommend it 200%. Pros: It's very safe Does not cause conflicts in the Windows system It has many country solutions to use as a VPN VPN speed is very fast in most countries. Cons: I think it should improve the quality of speed in some countries.

Flexible VPN with Smart TV and Firestick app

Pros: Ability to download app to smart TV, phone, computer, firestick, and other devices. Ability to connect to servers in almost any country. Cons: App auto-logs out on smart TV and requires a lengthy 2-step verification process to log back in, which is a hassle.

EDIT: To those who end up with the same problem, go straight to the Help Center LIVE CHAT, skip going to the other stuff, and they'll settle it quickly. They handled my issue in like five minutes. OLD REVIEW: It took my payment but it is saying I am logged in on a different account than my Google Play so I can't use the features I paid for, when I AM on the correct account. It's just randomly decided that it wants to stop working now.

NordVPN and the wonders of cloak mode

I wanted to use Nordvpn because of the cloak mode for websites that block vpn. Pros: The fact that it has an feature that allows website to not detetec that you're on a vpn proxy connection is super Cons: The prices are exorbitant but for that cloak mode it's kinda worthy.

I like the value of the annual plan and the overall experience. People don't seem to understand that you can turn off marketing notifications in the app settings if they wanted to. My only complaint is that after this recent UI update, I've been having issues with it trying to reconnect randomly. I'll be trying to do something and won't have connection because it's trying to connect to the vpn. Then I can't access the Internet unless I turn it off. It's not set to block internet without vpn.

It used to be great.

Recently it became useless in the Middle East, I loved it at the beginning, but now I had to go back my old VPN. After receiving your reply to the above review telling me to contact your support, from the region where I live I have to use another vpn to contact you, you should have more clear and telling your customer where your vpn is useless before buying it. I am cancelling my subscription, and my message to whoever read this message nordVPN doesn’t work in the GCC country.

The app for my iPhone has issues

The app for my iPhone has issues. Every time I am connected, I try to open an app and it wont load. It sits and chugs along with a blank screen. Sure enough, when I open the Nord app to investigate, its trying to connect (when it was already previously connected). I have to turn off protection, then turn it back on to access my apps. Very frustrating.

Solid product but they will steal your money

Product is great but customer service is terrible. I was 2 days late in canceling my subscription, but they refused to refund my money for the month even though I hadn't used the service in those 2 days and no longer needed it. They said it went against company policy, but that's really just an excuse to steal my money. Make sure you stay on top of your account if you purchase their product, or they will screw you. Pros: The product itself actually works fairly well most of the time Cons: Terrible customer service, terrible policies. They will steal your money.

Good features, but needs improvement

Good features, but the UX on the app can be improved. Autoconnect sometimes does not work, leaving connection exposed. Also, servers and protocols are quite slow and it does not switch automatically to a faster one.

It's ok...but looking around for another

Generally fine. some annoyances related to connection but overall...ok Pros: When it works, works well! Wide variety of connections available in the world Cons: A little 'buggy' at times... frequently get a message "Oh Snap...somethings happened" and then it takes up to 3 - 5 minutes to reconnect.

Told me it was a 3 day free trial, still wanted me to subscribe with a debit card. Yeah I had a free trial over a year ago and completely forgot it was this vpn, regardless it said nothing about previous free trials. Said cancel in 3 days and I wouldn't be charged, that I'd get an email in 2 days to warn me. So I got it, next thing I know I get an email telling me I've been charged 110$! absolutely not acceptable. Update: They refunded $ and have great customer service!

Bandwidth problems

I have had considerable problems over the past 2026 period. I don't know if it's the vpn or just a congested connection from my country of residence to the countries I want to stream from. The extreme buffering always happens at a certain time period in the evenings. It's very frustrating and impossible to watch anything when it's like it is. I didn't have so many problems over the last years, but I suppose there is more traffic using the bandwidth these days. I don't know if it's worth carrying on with the expense of a vpn connection if you can't use it properly. Roger Jarvis

Very bad connection

Started out good a few years ago but I will have to change when my subscription ends this year. Too bad because I like the clean UI and the intuitive UX. However, every time I need to connect it takes a really long time if the connection can even be successful. Sometimes it fails, sometimes it succeeds - it is really a game of chance. In my work I need to be able to rely on my VPN and this is not it - loosing many hours of work. After connection is established it is really bad, drops all the time and reconnects randomly. While connection is established the speed is ultra slow. Not sure how they manage to fail so blatantly because was good a few years back. Need help scaling?

The New UI Creates Major Usability Challenges

With the recent changes of Nord’s UI, you can no longer access key tools like connection details and the reconnect button without first delving into settings. Essentially making what would’ve prior been immediate front page access into a multi-click goose chase just in the hopes you can reach a server that isn’t flagged. In addition, the UI is a lot more clunky; giving a certain sense of feel that the quality has most likely been reduced by private equity firms for the sake of making reconnecting to one of their “less flagged” servers more difficult to access. This is a similar issue to how if you refresh too many times, it’ll restrict your access to a new server for a few minutes leaving your IP exposed. Servers are growing increasingly more flagged by websites and Nord has unfortunately yet to do much to resolve it from what I’ve witnessed. These changes are only a sample few of the degradations I’ve seen mentioned in other reviews. I sincerely hope to see this issues resolved as a nearly five year client. If not, I will have to search for other more reliable alternatives if customer service is lacking. (Which is a core reason on why I’ve stayed so long)

Poorly supported and not developed enough

Pros: Good amount of server locations, including the virtual servers. Decent speeds, although about a 10% loss on network speeds for the same country connections. Cons: NordVPN's support is non existent, they do not properly resolve connection ticket with an acceptable time frame. Nordvpn meshnet does not work at all. been waiting months for a proper response and have given up hope on this. there is severely inadequate support for Linux/Debian based devices. Some servers regularly drop connection. Strange structured pricing, be careful not to be sucked in to their incomprehensible pricing structure.

Update, no changes. time to find a new provider I have been a paid member for a long time. I have used the premium version on multiple devices for years, and the last year has been a nightmare of connection issues. I have to manually reconnect every hour, sometimes more. it will disconnect or just say "loading IP" and you won't be secured until you open the app and reconnect manually. I'm now shopping for a new VPN since it's a "known issue" and the updates don't fix it.

Used to be great…

As recently as a few months ago, this was a great product. Now, every single day, it disconnects while on cell coverage, even when sitting still, with four bars of cell signal. What’s worse, it will no longer reconnect without manual intervention. It makes using Nord wholly unsafe while driving. Please fix this mess!

Customer Support is beyond horrible

UPDATE: I am still having issues. The VPN cannot resolve names because DNS resolving fails. Three weeks and their support people refuse to escalate this bug to their dev group. I am at wits end with them. How do you communicate with a brick? They won’t listen. All they do is apologize. There are far far better VPN services out there. Ones which might actually care about their customers. * * * * I have been having issues for months which customer support is unable to deal with. 1. Their fast VPN reduced my network speed from 920Mbps to 180Mbps. After tweaking and many rounds with customer support, I finally manage 400-650. Better but nowhere near non-VPN speed. Their customer support agent even admitted to me customers can expect up to a 70% reduction in speed when the VPN is enabled. 2. You can specify a country/city combination to connect to but the software sometimes ignores this and connects to an entirely different combination. 3. This one is important: their domestic servers are managed by foreign ISPs. For example, a server in Los Angeles can be managed by/connected to an ISP located in the UK. I have experienced this first hand and it has caused me no end of trouble. I have been locked out of several of my accounts because the web sites thought I was logging in from outside my country. Their customer support department uses a pool of agents. When they respond to your support emails you get someone different each time. They ask the same questions and tell you to try the same things. It's annoying to do things you know aren't going to work. I have reported several other minor issues months ago and none of them have been fixed.

Evidently NordVPN became aware that…

Evidently, NordVPN became aware that some of their servers were acting like a connection was in BRAZIL!! My FIXED (which I pay extra for) IP is supposed to be OMAHA. I spent MANY hours of time and frustration dealing with this because various sites were acting like I was in Brazil. NordVPN KNEW about this! And did nothing to notify me. Hours of my time WASTED. Absurdly poor customer service. And just try to get through their AI hell to chat with an actual human being. It's nearly impossible.

No split-tunneling, inconsistent settings

Does not split tunnel in iOS Settings menu is inconsistent across desktop and mobile If I downvote a server, do not switch me back to it in 3 min(you can no longer downvote a server) Also stop switching addresses. It is screwing with services and completely defeating the point of vpn. Paying for a “static IP” is like paying an additional subscription to turn left in your car. Or a subscription for heated car seats. Look for an alternative.

Bad customer service

I rarely review things but I can’t believe they wouldn’t issue a refund on my first monthly autopay misfire. I used their VPN while overseas and it worked fine. They charged me again today and I was shocked. I decided I’d ask them to refund today’s charge and they said they couldn’t. I didn’t need another month and the customer service rep told me that I missed out on the 30-day money back guarantee so I can’t get a refund. I was like no, I don’t want the first month back, I want the second month back which you charged me for today. They said their policy is clear so they can’t issue a refund. I was shocked and here I am. I just can’t recommend their service because of very poor judgement on the customer service end. What if there was a bigger issue I needed resolving? I can’t imagine. No thanks! Looking forward to finding another VPN service when I need it next.

Shadow of its former glory

Used to be great a decade ago, but sadly it runs half as good now like it's full of bloatware. Pros: It used to be a reliable VPN service about a decade ago. Now, it's just a shadow of that Cons: The quality of NordVPN has gone steeply downhill. I first started using it in the early 2010s and the vpn was fast and reliable. Nowadays I use it for my Windows laptop and half the time I can't even establish a connection. I will not be renewing.

The product worked well, then it stopped being usable and refused to connect to servers and required constant reconnection. After troubleshooting with tech support, I was told essentially, "Too bad it's been more than 30 days; you can't have a refund (I paid full year upfront), so you're stuck with a broken product." I get if I was just asking for a refund. but the product doesn't work. if it doesn't work I shouldn't pay for the service.

Double charged and no refund

If you don’t mind paying two or three times for a single subscription, NordVPN is pretty good on the technicals. But their customer service is nonexistent. When I called NordVPN to explain, I had been double charged for my subscription, the Nord rep said that was my fault and that they don’t give refunds. Keep looking.

Not worth it anymore.

I find Websites and iPhone apps are blocking VPNs more and more. I find myself constantly having to turn Nord off to access websites and use certain iPhone app, like for the bus. I do not plan on renewing it next year because I feel Nord isn't able to function like it used to.

Stop asking for notifications! A recent update has made using the app a pain due to the constant requests to allow for notifications every time I open the app. They have made it more difficult to disconnect from an active VPN by burying the disconnect button under the pause menu. I will not be renewing after this recent update of intrusiveness, and lack of UI experts on their team. Do not ask me to contact support for the notifications. This is not an issue on my end at all, and you know it.

Lying Thieves. They advertise their one year subscription as being cancelable within the first three days for free, but there is absolutely no option on their website, or on the app to cancel the subscription within that three day timeframe. I even deleted my account completely after only two days of use, and there is a one year charge on my credit card. NEVER USE THIS APP, they are liars and thieves.

I used to love NordVPN, and I recommended it to several people, but no more! Since the latest update on July 8th, it disconnects constantly, and I do not feel safe any longer. It literally NEVER disconnected, prior to the update! Please fix this NordVPN, or it's not worth having.

Stop the ads pushing me to buy more stuff

I like the functionality, I like the app performance. What I absolutely abhor is the constant pushing of an upsell to their other products. If I've told the app I'm not interested please take the hint and stop pushing me. It's starting to feel like spyware at this point and makes me want to change vendors just to get away from the constant nag to buy more stuff. If this were a free product I could see it, but I'm already paying you. STOP!!

Non existent customer service

I paid to renew my subscription but it was not activated and I couldn't figure out how to use their website. Pros: I don't like Nord VPN at all. I'm going back to another service that has live HUMAN agents to speak with and an 800 number. Cons: No customer service number to speak with a live agent. Their website was confusing to me. I paid to renew my subscription but i couldn't figure out how to activate it.

WATCH OUT FOR CHARGES!!!

My card decline the services but they continued to charge until their was room available on my card. Auto renew was turned OFF by this point but I was charged. Pros: Ease of use, originally it was $99 for two year but they slowly eroded that away, charging $169 per year. Cons: Loyal customer for 5 years and randomly went from charging $99/year to $169. Absolute PITA to contact and cancel. They have lost my trust.

Long time customer says goodbye

Long time customer. Nord decided to up my monthly subscription rate by over 50% after faking a failed payment so i would have to resubscribe. Very disappointing. Plenty of other VPNs in the sea. Goodbye Nord. ID #21880864

Purchased a 2 year deal with 3 months free this time last year and now I don't have a VPN 1 year in, says I need to subscribe again, wonder if they think I forgot it was 2 years and are trying it on
